Wild Wing Golf Course
Home to 27 holes, Wild Wing has long been one of the Myrtle Beach area’s most popular properties. A Jeff Brauer-Larry Nelson design, the Avocet Course is at the heart of Wild Wing’s appeal, challenging players with a design that is as fun to play as it is creative.
Avocet allows plenty of room for players to swing away off the tee, but the layout also demands quality decision-making and precision. The course’s most talked about hole is the drivable par 4 14th, but it’s hardly alone in being a discussion point.
Whether it’s No. 9, which features a dual fairway, or the daunting par 4 sixth hole, Avocet’s ability to generate conversation speaks to why the course is so popular. Avocet’s greens, which are consistently among Myrtle Beach’s best, are large and undulating, contributing to the fun, but players are well served to avoid the swales that surround the putting surfaces.
Avocet is complemented by the Hummingbird nine, a par 34 that makes Wild Wing an ideal place to play an extra nine.
In addition to outstanding golf, Wild Wing is home to a full-service restaurant that serves all three meals, including its popular themed dinners. Wild Wing, with the ability to host up to 150 people, is also a popular spot for weddings, meetings, parties and various other private functions.
After a challenging game of golf, many members and visitors choose to visit the 10,000 square-foot Mediterranean-styled clubhouse which includes a full-service golf shop, lockers for men and women, a private dining room, large dining area and an outside veranda that overlooks the 9th and 18th greens of the grande golf course.
